Tonight, we are pairing the Jameson Caskmates Irish Whiskey with the Ashton Virgin Sun Grown (VSG) Corona Gorda cigar. The Ashton VSG cigar is a full body or full strength cigar with an easy draw. It measures about five and a half inches in length and the cigar ring gauge equals 52. The origin of the tobacco used for the cigar composition is Dominican Republic.
The full rich flavor of the cigar required a whiskey that could hold its own and also enhance and possibly balance the rich flavor. Since the Jameson Caskmates is Irish whiskey matured in stout seasoned beer barrels, it seemed ideal to pair with the Ashton VSG Corona cigar. From the start, the Ashton VSG cigar complemented the Jameson Irish Whiskey Caskmates. I provided a review of the Jameson Caskmates Irish whiskey at the Lovers of Whisky website @ http://loversofwhisky.com/jameson-whiskey-and-stout-seasoned-barrels/.
The flavors remained consistent and demonstrated a balanced and perfectly matched whiskey and cigar. The premium quality was evident in the consistency of the flavor throughout the cigar. I recommend anyone to try both the Jameson Caskmates Irish whiskey and the Ashton VSG Corona Gorda cigar and please let me, and the Lovers of Whisky fans, know your opinion. By the way, I would probably also suggest giving the Jameson Select Reserve Black Barrel Irish whiskey a try with the Ashton cigar.
So I’ll bid all lovers of whisky and cigar aficionados a good evening and I will chat with you all later.
