Aberlour 10 Scotch whisky
The Aberlour 10 YO Scotch Whisky produced at the Aberlour Distillery in 1879. Being a Speyside product, distilled in both oak and Sherry casks for a minimum of 10 years.
The Aberlour distillery created 15+ different expressions of scotch whisky. Also, the whiskies matured at least 12 years within both Oloroso sherry and American oak cask.
The flavor of the whisky is very light to taste. The flavor due to the natural spring water used in the distilling process. It has a sweet palate, probably from the sherry cask involved in the maturing stage.
The water opens the toffee and spicy character of the whisky when added. You might detect some honey and mint as the flavor diminishes on the tongue.
Aberlour 10 Tasting Notes
Due to the complexity of the Aberlour whisky, I am using the tasting notes provided by Dave Broom in his book “2nd Edition: Fully Revised and Updated, The World Atlas of Whisky”.
“Nose: Copper; Intense malt note; Fruity, rounded with oak overlay. With water, it becomes scented.
Taste/Palate: A positive nutty start, pecan pie. Toffee richness and scented leaf quality are seen on the new make.
Finish: Assam tea, mint.
Conclusion: The oak adds volume and heft.”
The original Aberlour 10 Scotch whisky was discontinued and no longer available in the United States. However, the Aberlour Distillery created a 2022 Limited Edition expression.
The 2022 expression can only be sourced through the distillery and shipped within the United Kingdom. Therefore, if you are located in the United Kingdom, you should be able to work with the Mail Marketing UK site for shipping. The Aberlour 10 Scotch Whisky 2022 matured in a single cask and first-filled sherry butt cask.
Aberlour cigar suggestions
As I think of the flavor of the whisky, what type of cigar to pair with it? The thought of a mild cigar with a Connecticut wrapper comes to mind.
And with that thought in mind, I happen to have a Davidoff Series 2000 cigar to pair with it on a later date. What a stroke of luck! The Aberlour whisky paired with the Davidoff 2000 cigar due
