The Buchanan Deluxe 12 YO Blended whisky is very smooth for a blend. It first came on the scene when James Buchanan and other venture makers first introduced scotch to the rest of the world. It’s also good to note that he started his own label of whisky which became well known and it was eventually a known fixture of the Parliament’s lower house which is called the House of Commons. Mr. Buchanan started making a light-bodied whisky which was smoother, crisper and more refined. James Buchanan used premium 12 Year Old whiskies to create his exceptional whisky blend.
Due to the awards he received for his exceptional whisky, he was able to start exporting it to countries such as the United States, Canada, Germany, New Zealand and etc. Once the Buchanan Distillery opened in 1895, the growth of the distillery has continued to expand and grow to this day. The distillery currently have up to 4 different expressions of whiskies since 2015 and probably has surpass it the 1 million bottles sold back in 2005.
The Buchanan Deluxe Blended 12 YO whiskey has a unique but smooth flavor and slight taste of oak. The oak notes are not over powering in the dryness department. Since it is a blend, I figured the other whiskies used during the distilling and blending process helped to round out the fruity and spicy flavors between the whiskies. With a price point of around $33.00, I was pleasantly surprise by the smoothness of the whisky. The whisky doesn’t need any water to open up the “bouquet” as probably expected. This is definitely another sipping whisky to add to your collection as another “go-to” whisky for your relaxing pleasure.
If you haven’t experience pouring any of Buchanan’s whisky bottles before then you will notice the pressure ball in the next of the bottle. While you have the bottle over your glass then you will gently shake the bottle to release the pressure on the ball.
