Crown Royal XO Whisky

Crown Royal XO Whisky is a premium whiskey from the Crown Royal family of great whiskies.  Upon sampling the Crown Royal Deluxe whiskey previously, it’s a good whisky.  However, I’ve grown partial with the Crown Royal XO expression in their whisky family.

Since the original Crown Royal whisky was finished in cognac barrels, the whisky takes on the richness of the cask. The cognac-finished whisky is exceptionally smooth and flavorful.  You can taste the spicy, fruity notes in a neat state, and flavors open up more when adding a drop of water.

Sipping whiskey

The Crown Royal XO is a sipping whisky, and you can’t help but envision yourself kicking back in your leather chair and savoring the warmth of the whiskey and the fireplace.

Imagine you have a roaring fire to your left and see light snowflake flurries falling from the pine trees. As you look further to your right out the frosty window panes, you see lovely snow-covered snowy rocks.

Within your log home on Mount Charleston, you see your friends playing in the snow and sipping XO whisky. A couple of cigar recommendations would be the Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 cigar.  The cigar is full-bodied and an excellent complement to the Crown Royal XO.

In addition to the Rocky Patel cigar, I recommend the Montecristo Platinum Series cigar, a medium to full-bodied flavor cigar.

 

Crown Royal XO Whisky Tasting Notes

The tasting notes for the Crown Royal XO with a drop of plain water are as follows –

Nose: Mild and rich with notes of toffee, caramel, and sweetness like honey

Taste/Palate: Leveled with hints of spice, slightly sweet with the flavor of dates, caramel, and a rich mouthful of honey and vanilla

Finish:  Smooth sweetness of spice and creamy vanilla.
