The Four Rose Small Batch Bourbon is a masterfully crafted bourbon blended by the Four Roses Master Distiller. Since it’s composed of five different bourbon expressions, I was curious to know which expressions went into creating this outstanding small batch. I have been pairing whiskeys with cigars, so I am looking forward to seeing what different types of cigars I can pair with the Four Roses Small Batch bourbon whiskey.
Since the flavors are so complex for the Four Roses Small Batch, I’ll give my best shot at how my palate register the flavors of the whiskey and its complex characteristics.
The tasting notes are short and sweet but provides a visual image for most bourbon drinkers.
Nose: Spicy but not peppery, rich, smooth yet fruity, the spiciness is probably due to virgin oak
Palate: Easy drinking with a sweet creaminess; soft and mellow around the outer edges of tongue, slightly sweet with a taste of caramel, toffee; rich, spicy, great sipping whiskey with a bite.
Finish: Soft, smooth and a long, running flavor
