Lovers of Whisky Anniversary on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2016. Lovers of Whisky and their fans have had an excellent and informative 2016. The Lovers of Whisky staff and fans diligently got the word on multiple ways to enjoy world whiskies.
Pairing whiskies with cigars and food and making cocktails has been enlightening and enjoyable. In addition, whiskey education helps introduce newcomers to the world’s whiskies and shows them ways to enjoy their social beverages.
Lovers of Whiskies Anniversary food pairings
First, the art of pairing whiskies with food is a relatively new concept in the United States. Not only do you add whiskies to your food during the preparation stage, but you can also serve whiskey along with the dish.
The key is complementing the flavors of the whiskies with food ingredients. An excellent book by Martine Nouet called “A Table: Whisky from Glass to Plate. The book helps us gain additional knowledge on pairing whiskies with food.
By being open-minded and willing to be adventurous, a whole new world of opportunities can open for you. Food pairings and whiskies will continue to play a role in 2017. We continue to strive towards visiting more restaurants with a whisk(e)y-food vibe.
Lovers of Whiskies Anniversary cigar pairings
Secondly, when pairing whiskies and cigars, you also learned that the characteristics of the whiskies and cigar must merge. Such as, our featured pairing of the Maker’s Mark 46 whiskey and the Romeo Y Julieta Aniversario cigar.
We will continue with the whisk(e)y and cigar pairings in 2017 and would love to hear some pairing suggestions from our fans.
Whiskies and countries
Lastly, with multiple countries such as the United States, Great Britain (i.e., Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and England), France, Canada, Taiwan, Japan, South Africa, South America, India, and/or Australia distills their whiskies, you have a global experience to try and enjoy.
Also, as you visit your favorite spirit vendor, you will discover more distilleries gravitating towards “No Age Statement (NAS) whisk(e)y expressions. This move inspires distilleries to be more creative and bold when maturing and blending their whiskies.
In addition, you have learned that adding a little water to open up the palate of certain whiskies. We had the opportunity to partake of some whisky and water when we attended the 2016 WhiskyFest in San Francisco, CA.
