Monarch of the Glen, 15 YO Blended Scotch Whiskey

July 26, 2015 by whiskey Leave a Comment

When I attended the Intro to Scotch whiskey class at Total Wines, the Monarch of the Glen Blended Scotch whiskey was one of several blended whiskies scheduled to be tasted during the evening.   Upon my first taste, I discovered a smooth whiskey that was great with or without water (a couple of drops, if needed).  I was also surprised to discover that it was only priced around $20 for the bottle.  The taste was flavorful and smooth with slight spicy-ness on the tongue.

Past experience has proved that I would have to pay about $50 or more to get a good blended whiskey. I would recommend it if you just want to chill out with a mild-mellow whiskey.

Color: Gold or smoked amber.

Nose: Caramel and peppery; fruity, spicy or crispy aroma

Taste:  Smooth, crisp apples, spicy and slight smoke
